A year old effort is helping to connect Erie County employers with their future work force.

It is Career Street, a program of the Erie County Vocational Technical School Foundation. Grants and donations from businesses are helping to fund the program.

In the past. arranging a tour of a local business was a real challenge for schools. Career Street makes it easy, operating a website connecting schools and employers.

Career Street Executive Director Jennifer Pontzer said, "It is a common portal for the businesses and schools to come together and see what they can do to work together offering these student career experiences."

The program also brings people from different occupations into schools.

Teacher Toni Zona said, "The website has made my life so much easier. It is like a one stop shop for setting up real life experiences for the kids."

And program managers hope to have a lot more experiences in the future. The goal is doubling the number of employers in the program in the next year.
