State Police Warn of Romance Scam

Posted: Updated:

Love may be in the air this Valentine's Day, however Pennsylvania State Police have a reminder to be aware of online 'Sweetheart Scams.'

These romance scam target users of dating and matchmaking websites.

Sweetheart scammers try to trick strangers into sending money, by pretending to be romantically interested. They usually target men and women over the age of 60.

State Police advise to never wire money to a person you never met, take the relationship slow, talk to your friends and family, do your research, and trust your instincts.
