Crawford Man Charged with Strangling Girlfriend Headed to Trial

Posted: Updated:

The Crawford County man, charged with strangling his girlfriend to death inside of a mobile home, is headed to trial.

On Monday, a district judge bound over all charges against 45-year-old James Lucas, following his preliminary hearing.

Lucas is charged with criminal homicide in the death of his girlfriend, 45-year-old Julie Willey.

The violent incident happened on March 10, inside a mobile home in East Fallowfield Township.

Key Investigators in this case testified that Lucas said the two had been arguing, around 1:00 a.m.

As he attempted to make his way to the bathroom, Lucas told police Willey started hitting him, until he snapped.

Police say Lucas then choked Willey to death, with his belt.

Lucas remains behind bars, as he awaits his next court date.
