WASHINGTON (AP) - President Donald Trump's chief spokeswoman says everyone at the White House was "thrilled" to see Rep. Steve Scalise return to the House floor.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the thoughts and prayers of everyone at the White House have been with Scalise and his family since he was gravely wounded during a shooting at a baseball practice three months ago. The Louisiana Republican returned to the Capitol on Thursday to cheers and a standing ovation in a packed House chamber.

Trump visited Scalise in the hospital immediately after the shooting.

Huckabee Sanders says the White House will "continue to root" for Scalise as he works toward a full recovery.
