Scott Enterprises cut the ribbon on its second IHOP restaurant Tuesday morning in Millcreek Township.

The new pancake house was built on the former site of a longtime staple - Taki's Restaurant - on West 12th Street just west of Peninsula Drive.

Former Taki's owner Bill Papanikos was on hand for the celebration.

A special coroner of the new restaurant is named in honor of Taki's for its longtime service to the Erie community.

"Taki's was an iconic spot," said Nick Scott Jr. of Scott Enterprises. "It's where you stopped in the middle of the night after a concert or in the morning with your kids. To bring back breakfast to this location is really special."

"You look back and our family did 62 years in business, and hopefully we served the community well," said Papanikos. "It's our time to sit back and relax now."

This location will be open 24 hours both Friday and Saturday nights.
