Edinboro University welcomed close to 350 new members to the class of 2017 Saturday.

Not even the snowy weather kept people from attending the university's undergraduate and graduate commencement ceremonies.

University President Fred Walker told the student this new chapter in their lives is not something to fear but to embrace.

Several graduates are already looking forward to the next steps.

"Work for three years in a personal financial planning firm to get my experience requirements to become a certified financial planner," said Laura Bequeath. "I already passed the exam, so I then hope to open my own business in the Erie area."

"I believe I can accomplish anything," said Christian Aocea. "Who knows, I might be presIdent next time."

Close to 1,200 students from Edinboro University have earned degrees in 2017.
