Pennsylvania's Attorney General has filed notice of appeal of the decision to dismiss some charges in the 2017 hazing death of Penn State student Timothy Piazza.

A spokesman for Attorney General Josh Shapiro said the appeal was made "in the interest of justice for the Piazza family."

The charges in question affect eight defendants in the case.

The Attorney General's Office said it laid out the elements required for the charges, which were dismissed at last month's preliminary hearing.

Attorney General Shapiro is expected to speak more on the case next week.
