Penn St Behrend softball was trying to win its fourth straight conference championship Sunday. However, an error-filled second inning cost the Lions as they fell to Mount Aloysius 6-3 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Final.

Penn St Behrend had to beat Medaille earlier in the day to just reach the finals after the top-seeded Lions lost to Mount Aloysius Saturday 3-2. They were able to accomplish that with a 1-0 victory behind junior AJ Nichols three-hit shutout.

The Lions got the final started with a bang as freshman catcher Mackenzie McIntire hit a solo home run to give Penn St Behrend the lead. The Lions added another run in the top half of the second to get out in front 2-0.

However as they did a day earlier, the Mounties found a way to get to Nichols who was started for a second straight game. Two errors in the second started a five-run inning to put Mount Aloysius ahead 5-2.

"sHE JUST HAD A GOOD FIRST GAME, A LOW PITCH COUNT SO WE JUST FIGURED WE WOULD TRY TO GO WITH THAT AND SEE WHERE IT TOOK US," SAID gURBER.

Penn St Behrend CUT INTO THE DEFICIT WITH A RUN IN THE TOP OF THE THIRD, HOWEVER AFTER THAT, THE BATS UNABLE TO TO FIND ANSWERS FOR mOUNT ALOYSIUS SOPHOMoRE PITCHER hANNAH RUBY.
