Illegal Dumping in Fairview Township Angers Resident
There's some illegal dumping going on in Fairview Township and one resident has had enough.
John List lives a quarter mile from the site on Market Road. It's property where Russell Standard dumps concrete and asphalt from highway construction projects. That dumping is all done legally.
However, uninvited dumpers are sneaking into the property through a broken fence. They're dumping items such as televisions, tires, construction materials, used toilets, and sinks. Clothing and personal items, such as family photo albums, can also be found.
List is worried about rats, chemicals, and asbestos. He contacted Fairview Township officials who referred the matter to state police. There's no word on the status of the investigation.
"I've talked to a couple of other residents that live near me and I've told them about it. They're in agreement with me. It needs to be cleaned up,” says List.
Erie News Now called the Russell Standard offices in Union City to ask about the illegal dumping. We were told no one there would have any comment.
