Erie Man Arrested After Tuesday Motorcycle Accident
An Erie man has been arrested after police say he caused an accident that seriously injured a motorcycle driver Wednesday evening.
Steven Tirpak, 31, faces charges including aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, accidents involving injury while not properly licensed, and failing to render aid after an accident.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. when police said Tirpak failed to yield to the motorcycle while turning onto West 23 St. from Asbury Rd.
He then left the scene in his truck, which was later stopped on West 26 St., according to investigators.
Police said he had trouble keeping his focus and determined he was impaired.
Tirpak was arrested, arraigned and is now behind bars in the Erie County Prison on $75,000 bond.
