Search crews are following a new lead that they say is "promising" in their search for a Collegiate Academy graduate who went missing exactly one week ago on a hike in Washington state.

Samantha Sayers, 28, who used to live in Girard, failed to return from a solo hike in a rugged section of the Cascade Mountains north of Seattle.

Over the past six days, a rescue crew made up of some 50 people and several K9s have been searching the area.

Sayers boyfriend posted on Facebook overning that they found a bootprint off the beaten trail.

Two helicopters equipped with thermal heat detectors have been searching the area, too.

Her mother posted a video Wednesday afternoon, saying they are getting ready to start day seven of the search.

They are making an appeal for help in the search.

Her mother said they are not giving up hope and are thankful for everyone's help over the past week.
