Local Band Back in Erie
The Calientes have reunited in Erie to play at the McDowell High School reunion for the Class of 1968. The band started in 1964 and reunited three years ago to play for a cancer benefit. Before that, they were on what they call a 45-year vacation from the band.
They joked around and shared some laughs before playing at the reunion, saying they still love playing together just as much, if not more, than they used to.
The band was originally called The Cyclones, but changed their name to The Calientes early on. "Caliente" means "hot" in Spanish and was also the name of a hot rod car during the time they got together.
