Interim Edinboro President has the university 'striving' for sustainability
As a new school year begins at Edinboro University, Interim President, Michael Hannan and his staff have been hard at work to develop programs, and strengthen the college's academic and student life record.
Already, the school has announced new educational programs like art therapy and work with the Western PA School for the Deaf, as well as ongoing improvements to student housing.
It's a work in progress for the president, who took on the position less than six months ago after the former president resigned due to his controversial remarks.
President Hannan says his goal is to continue to make the school a more academically-selective, yet inviting place for students, and powering him and staff is a will
"To get back to work because they believe in what Edinboro’s about." Hannan said
Hannan says part of the university’s new plan is an increase in student input as they try to make some new improvements, while still retaining some of the old traditions, and he says to look no further than the school’s newest marketing campaign.
If you look around campus, you'll see banners showing their new slogan, "For those who Strive." it's a nod to both the past and the future of the university. And it was done with student feedback in mind.
"It’s great to see that they're actually making strives, and leaps and bounds to make this university a place that people want to go to." Senior, Jacob Salis said
"It's just very rewarding to be able to work with students that have that persistence, that really want to make their lives better." Hannan said
Next: the university will be holding an open house for their new programs at Butterfield Hall on Friday, September 22 from 11 am to 1 pm.
