Cannon's Chophouse has only been open on upper Peach Street since July.

But the locally owned restaurant is no stranger to the region. It began in  Meadville, and also has a location in Canonsburg.

It is a meat lovers paradise. And managers say the meat they serve is top notch, certified Angus beef.

General Manager Jay McElhinney said, "It has a ten point quality check in order to qualify to be certified Angus beef."

And the beef comes from local farmers.

The lamb is local too.

Cannon's Chophouse gets as many products as possible from our area.

McElhinney said, "You know where it is coming from. You know it is fresh. You know it is going to be a higher quality than something that has been shipped halfway across the country."

The emphasis on local starts at the top. Cannon's is owned by Charlie Bish of Meadville.

But that doesn't mean it is a small operation.

In fact, the company has nearly 200 employees at the three locations.

While meat is the specialty, cooks also whip up unique pasta dishes, seafood and a wide variety of appetizers, salads and desserts, all made from scratch
