In light of recent events, Edinboro University has decided to start hosting an open forum to discuss hot-topic and uncomfortable conversations. Wednesday night was the first discussion, which started at 7 p.m. in the Student Center.

The hope is to create an open space for students and faculty to talk about uncomfortable topics with academics who specialize in related areas. Tonight's topics ranged from the Kavanaugh hearings, the effects of assault on memory and gender's role in institutionalized discrimination, to the difference in rhetoric when female vs. male victims come forward about sexual assault.

Panelist Jim Wertz, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Edinboro University, said they hope to establish a discourse for these topics, so students can have civil conversations about controversial topics now and when they are adults.
