Several candidates are hoping President Trump's endorsements at last night's Erie campaign rally will boost their campaigns.

Polls show two of the candidates are far behind, less than a month before election day.

The president gave strong support to U.S. Senate candidate  Lou Barletta and gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner.

But four polls show them each trailing by at least 16 points.

However, the situation appears to be  far better for Congressman Mike Kelly.

A New York Times poll has him leading Democrat Ron DiNicola by 8 points.

And a political analyst says it is difficult for DiNicola to counter the visit to the district by Trump.

Dr. Joe Morris of Mercyhurst University said, "There is very little that you can do if you are a challenger facing an incumbent that the president decides is important enough to support by making a presidential visit."

DiNicola supporters say the endorsement of Kelly was expected, and does not change their strategy.
