The Soldiers' and Sailors' home is honoring Erie's men and women who served ahead of Veterans Day this weekend.

They held a ceremony Thursday morning commemorating the 100th anniversary of the World War I armistice. It was held in the home's chapel.

Mercyhurst Preparatory High School choir performed the national anthem and other service songs for the veterans.

The Soldiers' and Sailors' home has been around for 132 years. Volunteer Coordinator Ken Vybiral says they are proud to carry on the tradition of celebrating our vets each year,  "It means a lot because it lets them know that their service is respected and still thought of even years after their enlistment was completed."

Veterans Day is Sunday, November 11th.
