Across the Erie area veterans remembered the late President George H.W. Bush.

At the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 470, the American flag was flown at half-staff to honor the late president.  Veterans gathered around to view the service, which was on every television in the bar. At the PA Soldiers and Sailors’ Home on East 3rd St., the flag was also flown at half-staff and veterans met in the lobby area to watch the ceremony.

President Bush served in the U.S. Navy as an aviator during World War II. Many said his legacy as soldier and statesman was a point of pride.
