We've learned that the Erie Innovation District plans to launch another Erie Accelerator in the Spring of 2019, to bring young start-up companies here for a multi-week program of funding and mentoring.

Karl Sanchack, President & CEO Erie Innovation District said, "It's my expectation we will do one to two more rounds per year going forward, at least one certainly and we're targeting around about April, so more new companies, more expansion of capability and more expansion and more investment into the city."

Five of the nine tech companies in the first Secure Erie Accelerator decided to stay in Erie to grow their companies and creates.  You can find stories on all nine by clicking here.http://www.erienewsnow.com/secure-erie-accelerator  One of the nine will announce soon that it has been selected by a nationally know accelerator.

Sanchack is frequently asked when the next accelerator will start, because the first one created quite a buzz. "Even since the last round when we closed our first cohort, our inaugural cohort, we've been getting contacted from around the world already, unsolicited, by companies that think there's something to be had here, and that they were impressed by what they heard of Erie, so our Secure Erie Accelerator achieved its goal," Sanchack said.

The Erie Innovation District and Velocity Network plan a joint announcement Thursday morning. They say it will enhance ongoing efforts to transform Erie as a destination for secure cyber and connected services.

Karl Sanchack is Lisa Adams' guest on the Insider this weekend. You can watch Sunday at 7:00 a.m. on WSEE and at 11:00 a.m. on WICU to learn more about the Erie Innovation District.
