Prosecutors Seek Conviction of First-Degree Murder in Millcreek Stabbing
Prosecutors are seeking a conviction of first-degree murder for a Millcreek man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death.
Police say James Gilbert, 24, killed his girlfriend, Marinda Matasowski, 20, back in August, at a home along Mill St.
During a formal arraignment, Erie county district attorney, announced his intentions to proceed with a first-degree murder conviction.
In a hearing in October, the victim’s mother testified that her daughter and Gilbert had been arguing.
She says, she saw Gilbert stab himself in the chest, after he attacked her daughter in her basement, all while she was watching their one-year-old son.
The lead detective in this case also testified that Gilbert admitted to attacking his girlfriend, because he thought she was the devil.
A trial date is yet to be determined.
