Duo Charged With Robbery and Arson For August Home Invasion
New charges have been filed in a local home invasion, that turned into a case of arson from this past summer.
It all happened at a home along Bird Drive in Wesleyville, last August.
Police said it was a home invasion and robbery, where the suspects set the house on fire as they took off.
Those suspects also reportedly threatened to kill the homeowner and their dog.
Police charged Juan Bermudez, 25, and Ricardo Torres, 28 with arson and a list of other criminal counts.
Investigators are reportedly looking at them as possible suspects in a similar incident along west 20th street in Erie, “That's rather unusual to have somebody light a fire after a robbery, so we're looking at that to see if there are any connections," said Erie Police Chief Dan Spizarny.
Again, Wesleyville and Erie are collaborating on these similar cases. The investigation is ongoing.
