Firefighters from multiple departments were called to put out a fire in east Erie that spread to a total of three houses. 

The house fire was first reported at 701 Reed St. around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. It then spread to a house on Reed St. and another on 7th St.

At least five people have been displaced. The American Red Cross has been called to help the affected residents.

One woman was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment for smoke inhalation. Two others went to the hospital in their personal vehicles.

Roads have been blocked off in the surrounding area.
