Albion Man Charged with Erie's First Homicide of 2019
Erie police have charged a man for the city's first homicide of 2019.
He's identified as Nicholas Raines, 34, of Albion.
Jeffrey Miller, 51, was shot and killed inside his apartment at the corner of 5th and Chestnut in Erie, on Monday evening around 10:15.
According to the criminal complaint, the deadly shooting stemmed from an argument over a drug transaction.
Erie police used surveillance video from both inside and outside of the apartment, as part of their investigation, and used the surveillance video to identify Raines as the suspect.
Police also interviewed several witnesses who were inside the apartment, at the time of the shooting, and identified Raines as the shooter.
Raines is also suspected of a home invasion the same night about 9:30 p.m., at a home in the 2200 block of Liberty St.
In that case, the suspect reportedly pointed a gun to a woman's head, barged into the home, pushed her into a room, stole items from the apartment, and fled.
