Plans to open the first Sheetz convenience store and gas station in the City of Erie are now dead.

The store was to be built at W. 38th and Liberty St.  However, Nick Ruffner, Sheetz public relations manager, released this statement to Erie News Now Monday afternoon.

“Sheetz is constantly evaluating site strategy in each market in which it operates.  With that in mind, we have decided not to pursue a store on this site."

A developer had demolished a gas station on the site, and a Little Caesar's pizza shop was relocated across the street.
