Over the next two days, non-profit organizations in Crawford County are hoping to see a huge financial boost from this year's Crawford Gives Day.

So far, more than $300,000 has been donated.

The Academy Theatre is currently topping the leaderboard, with nearly $33,000 in gifts.

Since 1885, the Academy Theare has served as a pillar downtown Meadville.

However, the past three years have been challenging.

The pandemic forced the theatre to close for a year-and-a-half, and the non-profit has spent the past year bouncing back.

According to Academy Theatre Administrator Darrel R. Whitney, all of the money they receive will go towards the theatre's five productions for the upcoming season and upkeep of the 137-year-old facility.

"It's lovely to see how Crawford County and also the surrounding area has flooded back to the Academy in the past year and really given us the amount of support that we need in order to make sure we can continue our mission," said Whitney. "We pride ourselves in making very elaborate sets and having extremely great talent and costumes in order to go along with that and that's where we predominantly put most of our money."
