House Fire in Corry Leaves Family Homeless
A family is forced out of their home, after a fire destroyed their house Monday afternoon.
Firefighters responded to the scene around noon on the 600 block of West Pleasant Street in Corry.
Firefighters say a family was grilling at a house, and propane tanks ignited, not only engulfing the house but destroying two vehicles as well.
The family escaped, but neighbors say it was a terrifying scene.
"We were walking around and we saw a small fire start inside of his grill and all of the sudden the whole side of the grill went up and then you can hear the propane let loose, it was fueling the fire," said Justin Hogan, neighbor. "In 30 seconds the whole side of the house was up."
Firefighters say the warm weather made the fire especially hard to fight, so responders had to rotate in and out of the house, trying not to overheat.
