After ten days of supporting over 60 local spots and eateries, Erie Restaurant Week came to a close on Sunday.
Since January 17, people have wined and dined with Erie Restaurant Week, a chance for chefs to present their top dishes.
"We get to showcase our food, not everyone knows what we have on the menu now. Just to see what everyone else out there has to offer and just promote local restaurants", said Scott Gilson, with Bourbon and Brew Restaurant located at Presque Isle Downs and Casino.
This annual event also leads to new customers for restaurants and bars. As A.J. Hanson, the General Manager for Plymouth Tavern explained," A bunch of brand new faces as well. Downtown has been picking up in speed, so it's nice to see new faces come down."
The week also lends itself to people to exploring spots. According to Gilson, "We've had a little bit of influx with it. A few new people in just to see what it's about. Not too many people know that we are up there, so it's nice to get out name out there."
And while the winter weather may lead people to staying in, Erie Restaurant Week forced people to step out of their comfort zone while support local restaurants.
"It's something for people to look forward to to actually go out and it incentives people to explore new restaurants that they might not actually go to", said Hanson.
Although, Erie Restaurant Week is over, many local bars and restaurants are looking forward to a few busy weeks ahead with the big game followed by Valentine's Day.
