When asked if he killed 36-year-old Matthew Lyons, homicide suspect David Fry said yes.
Lyons' body was found Sunday night in the Highpoint Towers Apartment. Detectives tied Fry to the crime, through a fingerprint found on an ivory statue inside of Lyons apartment, which is believed to be the murder weapon.
According to police, Fry was arrested near Pittsburgh on Monday night, during an attempted robbery of a convenience store.
"He was brought back today to face charges for the homicide," said Erie Police Detective Lt. Ken Merchant. "There's also other charges he was arraigned for...for the robbery of a Shell Station, and we have some charges that are coming down in relation to an attempted carjacking."
Police also recovered a vehicle which they say fits the description of a car that was stolen from Lyons. According to a criminal complaint, Fry admitted to first responders in Pittsburgh to killing several people...including Lyons.
Investigators say that Fry's arrest, is the result of quick police work.
"There was a lot of work being done on this, not only from us, but a lot of other agencies," said Lt. Merchant. "Obviously, he (Fry) left town and went to the Pittsburgh area. A lot of agencies down there were very quick to react and that ended in a fast arrest of the suspect."
