Neighbors living along a quiet, rural road in Crawford County are shocked at the discovery of a body in a shallow grave. State Police say the victim, a young woman was murdered. And two other young women are now jailed.
The body was found on property along Drake Hill Road, a rural area near Cochranton. Neighbors say they can't remember any serious crimes in the area.
Two young women, 20 year old Ashley Barber and 18 year old Jade Olmstead are now facing murder charges. They are being held without bond in the Crawford County Jail.
They are charged with killing 20 year old Brandy Stevens, an Ohio woman last seen a week ago by her grandparents. They were concerned because she is a diabetic.
State Police found the body of Stevens in a shallow grave, a few hundred yards from the ranch style home. State Police won't discuss a motive. But Ohio police say Stevens had lived with one of the women in the past.
Troopers say the defendants made a statement admitting their involvement when police whent to the home Wednesday after following up on the missing persons report and a cell phone number for one of the women provided by the victim's grandparents.
