Shooting near ice cream stand injures 24-year-old man

A 24-year-old man was shot in the left ankle and calf, outside Denny's Ice Cream at East 10th and Parade, around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim was taken to UPMC Hamot in a private car.

Police followed the victim to the hospital for questioning, but he is not cooperating with police.

People and children were enjoying ice cream when the shooting happened.

One person says he was at the Country Fair store at East 12th and Parade when he heard about four gunshots. He did not know where the gunfire was coming from until he saw all the police cars at the ice cream stand.

Police are reviewing surveillance video from area businesses and gathering information about the suspect.
