Penelec Investigates Erie Power Outage

About 1500 Penelec customers were without power for several hours Friday night, and Penelec is still trying to figure out why.

As of 11:00 Friday night, the number was cut down to about 560 people with no power.

Crews were able to sectionalize service areas, and restore electricity to nearly 1000 customers.

The outage affected part of the city of Erie around the 2100 block of Sassafrass, and part of Peach Street, since 4:30 Friday afternoon.

Penelec crews were still investigating the cause of the outage late Friday night.
