An East Springfield man is in custody tonight, and is expected to be charged with robbing an Erie bank this afternoon.  Police say 27-year-old Brad Croasmun robbed the bank for drug money.

The situation came to an end shortly after 2:00 p.m. Monday, near West 32nd Street and Berkeley Road.  Police say they found Croasmun in the getaway vehicle, covered in pink ink from the bank.

The robbery happened about 10 minutes before the arrest, at the Huntington Bank on West 12th and Pittsburgh Avenue.  Erie Police Chief Randy Bowers said the Croasmun gave the teller a note indicating that he had a gun and demanded money.  However, a weapon was never shown.

Chief Bowers says that these type of robberies are becoming all too common.

“It seems like it is happening more often, and they are always heroin or drug related,” said Chief Bowers.  “In this case, this is a self-admitted heroin user."

Croasmun is being held on $200,000 bond.
