Two people are dead after a shooting on Liberty Street in Erie this morning.  Investigators say the case could be a murder-suicide, but they are still keeping other options open.  Police do know that at least one murder took place at 2716 Liberty Street around 8:30 this morning. They must determine if the second death was a murder or a suicide.  Detectives want to be sure before they close this case.

A neighbor told 12News/WSEE that she heard yelling and screaming, and then heard shots.  When police arrived , a man and a woman were dead in the upstairs apartment. Police are taking into account the living arrangements of all the people at the apartment.  Police say the man and the woman who were killed were not married.  The woman's two children, one a teenager, the other a pre-teen, also lived in the apartment.  Another adult woman, not related to any of the occupants, also lived there. Police are questioning that woman to find out what she knows about the shootings.

"The adult woman came to the station.   She's been cooperating with our investigators and we're determining the facts and circumstances prior to the shooting the best we can,"  said Erie Police Chief Randy Bowers.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook has not yet released the names of the victims.  He said the man was 62 years old, the woman was 45 years old.    Police are hoping to wrap up this case as early as tonight.
