A cabin undergoing renovations at the YMCA-owned Camp Sherwin went up in flames, early Wednesday morning.

Fire crews got the call around 4:15 a.m. for a fully involved structure fire in a 1-story building on the campground.

They arrived to find flames and thick smoke pouring from a cabin.

Crews from Lake Shore, Fairview, Lake City, Girard and Cranesville had the fire contained in about 30 minutes.

No one was injured, although the director of the campground was sleeping at the time the fire broke out.

Officials said they believe a driver in the area, called to alert crews of the fire.

No official cause has been determined yet, but officials believe they have an idea of how the fire started.

"The director of the campground stated he was doing some varnishing in the building, yesterday. We believe that led to, or was the cause of the fire starting," said Juston Cannon, Lake Shore Deputy Fire Chief.

The cabin is considered a total loss.
