State Police Were Ready To Issue Amber Alert In Erie Abduction
Even though a 15-year old girl was abducted in the city of Erie Tuesday morning, an Amber Alert was never officially launched.
The girl was abducted from in front of her Cranberry street home at 6:18 a.m.
Erie police talked to witnesses and gathered information, including a picture of the girl, and a possible description of a vehicle used by the abductor.
WICU & WSEE has learned, that information was sent to Pennsylvania State Police in Harrisburg, for release to the Amber Alert system.
Police would not pinpoint how long that process took.
However, Corporal Robert LeVan, the Coordinator of the Pennsylvania Amber Alert Program, tells WICU & WSEE that he was ready to issue the alert, and that's when he received word the girl had returned home.
She made it back at 7:45 a.m.
