Police Investigate Body Found on Erie's East Side

Police are investigating the scene where a female body was found on Erie’s east side this morning.

The body was first discovered around 8:30 a.m. Reports say a white female was found in the 1500 block of East 19th between Schall and Camphausen Ave, by the Camphausen Pump Station.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook was called to the scene, along with crime scene investigators.

Coroner Cook said has confirmed this is a homicide and an autopsy to determine the cause of death was being performed Friday afternoon. Cook reported that the women is a 50-year-old, although they are not sure whether the female lived in the area.

Police are reporting that they do not believe the victim was killed at this address and they are searching for a second area in which they believe the crime occurred.

Erie City Police confirmed that a search warrant was being prepared for the victims house and that authorities are talking to family members and friends.

No weapon used in the criminal act has been located.

The scene remains under investigation and Erie Police are working to gather information.
