Warren County Recovers After Severe Storm Damage

Residents of Warren County were left to clean up after heavy winds and rain hit the area.

"You actually heard that roar that you hear everybody talk about," Patti DiPenti, who had most of her trees leveled from the storm said.
While hearing the storm from her basement, DiPenti and her family could only sit in fear.

"We literally seen the tornado coming across and went into the woods there, went over into the neighbors, but there was a second one behind us that we didn't even know about," DiPenti said

Many residents of Scandia in Warren County came out to find destruction after the storm had passed.

"I didn't realize how much damage there was even until today, Carol Lauffenberger, who lost her power lines and trees said. "I went out in the back and I have toppled over trees, roots and all out of the ground back there."

Heavy winds from the storm uprooted trees around the area, including two giant sets of trees, pulled out of the earth and turned on their side. However, that was not the worst.

"A few minutes after it went through my neighbor stopped and said hey half your buildings gone," John Anderson said.

Storm winds picked up parts of Anderson's storage garage and tossed it 250 feet back into the woods, something that left him amazed.
"It's pretty impressive. It was pretty neat really," Anderson said.

Others said the storm left them in waiting in fear.

"It's pretty scary, and your in the dark because there's power or anything and you don't know what your going to find when you come out," DiPenti said.

Now despite the heavy winds and the damage that was done to places like Scandia, Anderson said he was just happy everyone was safe.

"Just glad nobody was hurt. There's no real property damage, this building probably the worst of it," Anderson said.

While residents say this isn't the first time these type of storms have come through, they just hope it doesn't get more severe.

"Hopefully next time it doesn't go through the house," Lauffenberger said.
