Erie Bank Sports Park Behind Schedule, Set to Open Next week

The new Erie Bank Sports Park in the former home of Family First is finally taking shape and is almost ready for action.

Erie news now got a look at all the work that's been going on inside. The ice is in the process of being laid on two NHL sized rinks. However, things are slightly behind schedule due to a power outage a few days ago, which allowed some melting and refreezing to occur. The park was originally set to open on September 1st.

Despite the delays, workers say they are still on track to have the ice ready for their first event next Saturday. The project manager tells Erie News Now that they'll finish painting the rinks this weekend, and should have both sheets of ice done by Sunday night.

Workers say they still need to install seating in the venue as well as update the locker rooms, those are not expected to be completed by the first event.
