Sale of Presque Isle Downs & Casino Takes Another Step
The purchase of Presque Isle Downs and Casino by Churchill Downs Inc. is moving forward.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved the sale during its meeting today in Harrisburg. The reported purchase price for the casino and horse racing complex was $178.9 million.
The official closing of the sale is expected to take place soon.
Presque Isle Downs Casino was opened in February 2007 by MTR Gaming, based in West Virginia. MTR merged with El Dorado Resorts in 2014.
Churchill Downs Inc. became interested in buying Presque Isle Downs Casino after Pennsylvania passed a new gaming law that included online casino games. The company is expected to initiate sports betting at the casino before the end of the year.
