It looks as if one of Erie's food desert areas is getting a new Speed Check gas station and food mart.
Construction is well underway on the new store on E. Lake Rd. between Dunn Blvd. and Lighthouse St.
The City of Erie confirmed a building permit has been issued to a company called Sardaar Shibe Inc.
Crews could be seen working on the framework of the new store.
There is no word on when the store will open for business.
