The City of Erie is getting a financial boost to help improve the appearance of downtown.

The city received $250,000 in casino money from the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority on Thursday.

The money will be used to beautify downtown streetscapes as part of the first phase of the Erie downtown Streetscapes master plan.

The grant will allow the city to improve the streets and curbs along State St. from 3rd to 12th.

The city is also expected to install additional green space.
