Student Faces Charges for 'School Shooter in Training' Snapchat Video
A student faces charges for re-posting video of a person shooting a rifle with the caption "School Shooter in Training" on Snapchat, according to the Oil City Police Department.
Officers said they learned about the video Monday morning after an Oil City Senior High School student anonymously reported it to school staff, who shared the video with police that were at the school for an unrelated matter.
The video shows a male teenager shooting a semi-automatic rifle and included a banner that said "School Shooter in Training," police said.
Investigators said they learned the student in the video was not the one who posted the video.
Police interviewed the student who posted the video. He admitted to screen recording video of a friend shooting a rifle in the video then adding the caption and posting it to his Snapchat account, according to police.
Investigators took a look at the video and said it was clear the first student was well-supervised while using the rifle, and there was no criminal wrongdoing.
The student who made the duplicate and re-posted it with the banner faces criminal charges in the Venango County juvenile court system for terroristic threats and disorderly conduction, police said.
