Cambridge Springs Business Owner Hopes to Restore Downtown Building
As Cambridge Springs continues to rebuild its downtown area, one local man is stepping up to help the resurgence.
Resident James Byers has his eye on buying the building on main street that once housed Nick's Tavern from 1934 to 1975.
"Nick's Tavern quickly became famous for the turtle soup and the Greek hotdogs in the area," Byers said.
His goal is to bring life back into the now empty structure.
"I just feel that it's important," he said. "That it needs to be saved."
He's trying to raise $20,000 dollars to fix up the roof, and repair the floors inside the building, as well as other maintenance repairs.
His plans are to turn the place into a hotel and a restaurant.
