Four Erie County schools will receive a total of $61,850 in grants to improve safety and protect kids, lawmakers announced Friday.

The grants are part of a $7.2 million package in a competitive 2019-2020 Safe Schools Targeted Grant from the State Department of Education.

Millcreek Township School District is receiving a $9,000 grant to install a safety software program. The program will assess risk assessments in each building within the district. Any threat that is made within the school will then be compiled into a database that will be connected to law officials, parents, and mental health professionals.

$24,240 was also awarded to the Erie City School District for security-related equipment; $24,935 was allocated to Erie County Technical School for security-related equipment; and $3,675 was granted to Bethel Christian School for safety-related programs.
