LECOM Cuts Ribbon on New Center for Health and Aging
An Erie senior care center now has a new home.
Officials with LECOM Center for Health and Aging cut the ribbon Thursday morning for its new facility on Schaper Ave.
The 9,000-square-foot building replaces an old location on Peach St. where the senior services were provided for more than 25 years.
LECOM leaders say the new location is well-suited to meet the needs of a larger, older population.
"It's really a model where we can provide care, as well as activities. for the seniors that are living in the communities," said Dr. James Lin, president of LECOM Institute for Successful Aging. "The goal is we really want to keep people at home as much as we can."
In addition to Thursday's ceremony, LECOM Center for Health and Aging is hosting a day of free activities of Monday. They include tours, lunch, tai chi, bingo and a Veterans Day dinner.
