Helping those in need this Thanksgiving
ORGANIZATIONS HOSTED FREE MEALS FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDED THEM.
Abundant Life Ministries and Erie City Mission held free thanksgiving meals for anyone who needed them. Abundant Life opened its doors in 2004 and Annabelle Nelson has been serving meals ever since.
Second HARVEST FOOD BANK ALONG WITH MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH DONATE AND COOK UP A TRADITIONAL THANKSGIVING FEAST.
nelson says it's a meal some might not of gotten otherwise. ''ONE THING WE REALIZED IS EVERYONE EATS FOOD BUT HOW OFTEN DO THEY GET A CHANCE TO CELEBRATE LIKE THIS?" she told us.
THE SAME GOES FOR VOLUNTEERS ACROSS TOWN AT Erie City Mission.
THEY SAY IT'S A WAY TO GIVE BACK TO PEOPLE GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME.
"I feel like I'm giving to the community every day," said Sue Jepson, kitchen service manager for the Erie City Mission. "It's a God-given opportunity. We were all put here for times like this, and we do what we can."
sue JEPSON WAS ONE OF ABOUT 40 VOLUNTEERS WHO SERVED UP THE THANKSGIVING MEAL.
SHE SAYS THERE'S ALWAYS NEED FOR THINGS LIKE THIS IN THE COMMUNITY.
Back AT ABUNDANT LIFE, Annabelle Nelson HOPES THE YOUNGER GENERATION CONTINUES HER WORK.
But for NOW..SHE DOESN'T MIND STEPPING IN TO HELP.
"It's A BLESSING TO SEE THE PEOPLE AND FEEL LIKE i DID SOMETHING TO MAKE THEM FEEL GOOD."
