A FAMILY FROM Millcreek is out of a home this Thanksgiving after a fire ripped through it.

A MOTHER AND HER THREE CHILDREN ESCAPED, BUT THEY CAN'T GO BACK HOME.

IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT THE TANGLEWOOD APARTMENTS.

Neighbors who live in the building TELL US THE FIRE WAS GOING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES BEFORE ANYONE ELSE IN THE BUILDING REALIZED WHAT WAS GOING.

IT WASN'T UNTIL SMOKE POURED INTO THE HALL THAT BUILDING FIRE ALARMS WENT OFF.

FIRE CREWS TOLD NEIGHBORS THAT METAL IN THE MICROWAVE MOST LIKELY STARTED THE FIRE.

THE DAMAGE WAS CONTAINED TO THE BASEMENT APARTMENT AND EVERYONE WAS ALLOWED BACK INSIDE THAT EVENING.

WE KNOW THAT EVERYONE MADE IT OUT SAFELY...INCLUDING THE MOTHER AND HER KIDS LIVING INSIDE THE APARTMENT.

IF YOU LIVE IN AN APARTMENT BUILDING AND FIND YOURSELF IN THIS SITUATION, THE FIRST THING TO REMEMBER IS DON'T PANIC.
YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE AN ESCAPE PLAN PREPARED including things like:
--COUNTing THE DOORS AND EXITS IN YOUR BUILDING.
-- MEMORIZing THEM IN CASE YOU NEED TO EXIT IN THE DARK.
--and LEARNing YOUR BUILDING EVACUATION PLAN AND PROCEDURES.
MOST IMPORTANTLY remember to PRACTICE YOUR PLAN.
