A child is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Ashtabula County Saturday night.

It was reported on Huntley Rd. approximately one mile west of Wiswell Rd. in Windsor Township around 11:01 p.m.

A Chevrolet Silverado with nine people inside was traveling eastbound on Huntley Rd. when it went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned, partially ejecting one person, according to the Ashtabula Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

One of the four juveniles who was in the vehicle at the time of the crash died at the scene, investigators said.

The driver - identified as Vernon Hershberger, 19, of East Rochester, Ohio - and a passenger - Matthew Miller, 18, of Windsor - were both taken by ambulance to University Hospitals Geauga with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three other passengers - Matthew Leslein, 20, of Windsor; Robert Leslein, 18, of Windsor; and Melvin Yoder, 20, of Windsor - were not injured.

Investigators said none of the occupants were using a seatbelt, and alcohol or drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash.
