A natural gas leak caused a scare for a Fairview family Saturday evening.

Emergency crews were called to  the 5500 block of Franklin Rd. for a home filling up with gas.

National Fuel responded to the scene as well.

Everyone in the house, including their pets, got out safely, according to fire officials.

Sources at the scene said the exterior gas meter had some damage.

National Fuel says if you smell a strong gas odor, leave the premises and call the utility's emergency line at 1-800-444-3130 from a different location.

Don't turn on or off any electrical appliances, smoke or use any open flames.
