A man was arrested after an argument while decorating a Christmas tree led to a stabbing in Girard Township Friday night.

William Harvey, 56, was arraigned Saturday morning on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment.

State Police were called to a domestic at a home on Carrousel Ct. just after 10:30 p.m.

The incident started as a verbal argument when the victim - a 56-year-old woman - knocked over a Christmas tree while attempting to place an angel on its top after Harvey finished decorating the tree, according to troopers.

In a fit of rage, Harvey stabbed the woman in the chest with a steak knife, causing minor injuries, State Police said.

Harvey is behind bars in the Erie County Prison with bond set at $25,000.
